Retainer instructions
Frequency of wear:
Wear the retainers 12 to 16 hours per day. If you wear them for 8 hours sleeping, you only have to wear them 4 to 6 hours during the day. We recommend that you DO NOT bring them to school or work. You should be able to accomplish 12 to 16 hours per day of wear without bringing them out of the house.
If you are traveling and/or on vacation, we advise that you only wear them while sleeping, to prevent the chance of loss. Go back to wearing them 12-16 hours per day when you return.
Additional Instructions:
Do NOT expose them to extreme temperatures (e.g. dishwasher, dashboard of your car, boiling water)
Do NOT remove them by using your fingernails in the front area of the retainer. Instead, attempt to loosen them in the far back (near the molars) first, and then gently wiggle the retainer out.
Do NOT bite them into place. Only use finger pressure to seat them into the mouth.
You may gently brush them under cool tap water. We do not recommend using toothpaste, as it may scratch them. If you have a white hard substance build up on them (this is calcium deposits from your saliva), you can soak them in white or apple cider vinegar for 10 minutes, then gently brush them under tap water.
** After the initial delivery you will return in approximately 3 months, at which time we may modify the instructions for frequency of wear. Please make sure to bring your retainer(s) to the appointment.
